Performance+Recovery: From a CrossFit room to a thriving physiotherapy business
Case studies / 28.11.2024
Laura Jamieson, a fourth-generation physiotherapist in the UK, is redefining client rehabilitation at her practice, Performance+Recovery. Inspired by her mother and late grandmother – both physiotherapists – Laura always knew physiotherapy was her calling. After nearly a decade working with the NHS, elite military, firefighters’ rehab centres and private practices, she felt compelled to start her own business and leaned on myPOS card machines to help streamline payments.
Combining a keen interest in CrossFit with starting a practice felt like the winning formula and Laura rented a room in a CrossFit gym, encouraged by her husband and prompted by a friend’s suggestion. Knowing resistance training is crucial, she included the gym to offer varied rehabilitation options.
“I simplify rehabilitation to fit my clients’ busy lives. With clear, goal-focused plans, simple exercises become powerful steps toward recovery,” Laura says.
Offering exceptional care while building a sustainable business
Success came quickly. In her second year, Laura surpassed her previous salary – a significant milestone that validated her efforts and confirmed she could provide the service and rehabilitation she had always hoped to offer her clients.
Her growth stemmed from a personalised rehabilitation approach tailored to each client. While the COVID-19 pandemic tested Laura’s resilience, she adapted her services and found new ways to connect with clients.
“Giving up was never an option for me,” Laura reflects. “When faced with challenges, I embraced the digital world. I increased my remote work and transformed my website into a hub of support – filled with guidance, injury advice and tips to help my clients maintain an active lifestyle.”
She advises others to set aside savings for unexpected situations and to surround themselves with supportive people who believe in them, especially during moments of self-doubt.
Transforming payment acceptance
As her business grew, Laura realised that her initial payment system wasn’t meeting her needs. Seeking a better solution, she discovered the myPOS Go 2 card machine, which transformed how she handles payments.
“I’m thrilled with myPOS – it’s made managing payments effortless. The sleek design of the myPOS Go 2 caught my eye but it’s the user-friendly app and transparent fees that truly impress me. No surprises or extra monthly fees – just efficient service that lets me focus on my clients’ recovery,” shares Laura.
Prioritising clients as the key to business growth
Laura advises aspiring entrepreneurs to focus on each client, making every appointment rewarding and memorable.
“Believe in the value of what you provide. Strive to be the kind of service you’d choose for yourself. When you’re proud of your work, it shines through, and clients notice that authenticity,” encourages Laura.
Positive encounters lead to recommendations and favourable reviews. By delivering exceptional service and building genuine connections, success becomes a natural outcome of passion and hard work.
